Ulysses Ramos Recognized with G.E.M. Award

Ulysses Ramos, a utility pre-inspector at ACRT Pacific, recently received a G.E.M. Award for his significant performance in safety. He was nominated by ACRT Pacific Operations Manager Robert O’Brien.

O’Brien shared the following about Ramos’ actions.

On Sept. 22, 2023, at approximately 1:10 p.m., ACRT Pacific UPI Ulysses Ramos stopped at a Crestline skatepark (California) to use the restroom. When Ulysses entered the restroom, he noticed a syringe on the sink in plain view and access to the public. Concerned with leaving the syringe in the public restroom where kids may pick up the syringe, Ulysses did the right thing by blocking the door with his safety cone to prevent anyone from entering and being at risk of injury by the syringe. Ulysses then notified his supervisor and then called the local sheriff dept to report the syringe. Ulysses watched the restroom to prevent kids from entering while he waited for the Sheriff’s deputy to show up. The syringe was safely removed from the sink and the restroom was made safe for the public to use. This act of selflessness may have prevented injury to the public, especially kids who use the skate park.
