April 19, 2022 — Stow, Ohio — Our organization’s history is synonymous with safety. Founding member, Richard E. Abbott, was instrumental in the development of the ANSI Z133 Tree Trimming Safety Standards through the American National Standards Institute — guidelines developed in response to incidents that occurred nationwide in the 1960s, and guidelines that have saved and protected countless lives since. His influence on safety set a precedent for our industry.
A commitment to safety and the development of our employees is showcased in our organization’s Richard E. Abbott Safety Scholarship — a $1,000 award that is granted annually to an employee who is seeking to further their career development and commitment to safety.
Congratulations to the 2022 Richard E. Abbott Safety Scholarship recipient, ACRT Pacific Vegetation Management Inspector Timothy Robertson.
Robertson enjoys staying up to date on the latest ANSI Z133 Tree Trimming Safety Standards and implementing those practices into his daily fieldwork and at home.
“I am pleased Timothy was selected to represent our second class of Richard E. Abbott Safety Scholarship recipients. His dedication to safety, his role, and our organization shines through in his daily actions,” said ACRT Pacific Director of Operations Bryan Durr.
Wasting no time, Robertson has already used the scholarship funds to become a Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP) through the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and complete an OSHA 30-hour training course. He plans to use the remainder of the funds to earn his Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) certification through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
“These certifications will compliment my current credentials in helping to encourage a culture of safety amongst my coworkers,” shared Robertson.
“Timothy will accomplish many things in [his] career, all with safety at the forefront. When the need arises, I go to Timothy to get a fresh, practical take on a situation. I can rely on him to evaluate, act, and share the results with our team. Timothy is a great asset, and I am happy to have him on my team,” shared Sarah Visser, an ACRT Pacific pre-inspection manager.
“His focus and dedication to safety always impress me. Timothy’s ability to tackle some of the most challenging work situations while keeping safety at the forefront of his mind is admirable. Besides, he never hesitates to seek help whenever he is unsure of the next best step,” said Alexis Reese, an ACRT Pacific assistant operations manager.
