ACRT Pacific Employee Recognized for Life-Saving Response
Safety training prepares employees to recognize hazards, respond to unexpected situations, and act when it matters most. For ACRT Pacific Vegetation Management Inspector Luis Magana, that preparation recently made a potentially life-saving difference.
While working in a customer’s backyard in Fremont, Calif., Magana recognized that the customer was experiencing a medical emergency. Drawing on his CPR and safety training, he quickly stepped in to help.
Magana safely assisted the customer to a shaded area, provided aid, contacted emergency services, and remained with the individual until paramedics arrived. First responders later shared that Magana’s quick actions were critical and may have saved the customer’s life.
His response demonstrated situational awareness, compassion, and a commitment to safety that extends beyond the immediate responsibilities of the job. By recognizing the situation and responding decisively, Magana helped protect a member of the community he was there to serve.
In recognition of his actions, Magana was awarded the ACRT Pacific Safety Challenge Coin.
